The mantra to lead a successful life was given by Miyamoto Musashi. He was a Japanese Buddhist who had chalked down certain rules that one needs to follow for leading a happy life. His golden rules of life are still looked up to by people.
Here are 8 rules of life you should follow to change your life.
1. Do not lament over the past
It is necessary for all to realize that people do commit mistakes in their lives. This, however, doesn’t mean that you need to be remorseful about it forever. In no ways can you change the mistake, though you can choose to lead a better life by trying to not repeat those mistakes.
2. Accepting life’s ways
Life is not always a bed of roses. You need to face challenges in order to sustain in life. Accepting challenges are going to strengthen you against all odds. You might feel disturbed and depressed in pressing situations, but you need to make your way out of it. Accept the trials and tribulations and try to overcome them.
3. Do not be greedy
Greed leads to the downfall of man. This is one such lesson, we need to keep in mind forever. Try to be satisfied and happy with whatever you have.
4. Seize the day and live life to the fullest
In the course of aspiring for some higher goals, it is necessary for you not to forget your present life. One needs to learn to seize the day and life at that moment itself. ‘Carpe Diem’ without forgetting your higher aims. Do not be swayed by your present life but do not neglect it either.
5. Do not lose your honour and self-esteem
A life is worth living only when you do things which allow you to take pride over yourself. This is for you to look back at the end of the day and realize that your life has been worth living. The worst outcome of losing your respect is not before anyone else but before your own eyes.
6. Happiness is not material-based
It is good to aim for a life that will ensure a bundle of happiness when you’re old and retired. However, this happiness is not a materialistic possession that you need to achieve. You should act in ways that ensure you little strokes of joy in your everyday mundane life.
7. Do not leave everything in God’s name
God is just the driving force for you to work efficiently and diligently. Leaving everything to His name will never work out for you. Your fate is determined by your actions, and not by God doing your work. You are His creation. So, if He has made something, wouldn’t the product be beautiful in its own right, and not need Him to do their work?
8. Do not go by rumours
Never go by what you’ve heard other people say. There can be manipulative versions of the actual story. This will definitely make you disillusioned if you simply believe in what others have to say. Try to create your own perspective by viewing and experiencing things by yourself. This may produce your very own unique perspective over a particular issue.
